Everything was in place… record entries, interstate runners, the track in best-ever condition and the pre-event organisation accomplished. I travelled to Lithgow yesterday for the Media Launch of the carnival with the newspaper and TV journalists, sponsors’ representatives and Councillors all in attendance ready to conduct interviews… but there was a snag ! BREAKING NEWS: Lithgow Gift postponed due to predicted bad weather
The Lithgow Flash Carnival organisers met with major sponsors of the event today and after much discussion have decided to postpone the popular event until spring. Olympians among record Lithgow Flash Carnival entries for Saturday
Record numbers of competitors will be at Tony Luchetti Showground on Saturday for the sixth running of the Lithgow Flash Gift Carnival. The earlier worries of officials that entries may be down have been well and truly dispelled with organisers having to put on additional heats which has resulted in a much earlier start this year with the first race, the first heat of the Novice-Vets Handicap kicking off at 10.00am, the same time as the junior and LA’s events on the other track.
